Heute vor zwei Wochen flog ich für vier Nächte nach Florenz, in die wunderschöne Toskana. Mit dabei hatte ich meine Pentax 645N und einige Rollen Film, Kodak Portra 400 sowie Portra 160.

Es mussten ganze sieben Jahre vergehen, bis ich endlich wieder mit einer Filmkamera fotografiert habe. Und ich liebe es und werde mehr und mehr damit fotografieren. Privat, aber auch beruflich. Wieso? Nicht nur liebe ich die Farbtonalität und den Dynamikumfang von Film, sondern und vor allem die entschleunigte und sortierte Arbeitsweise. Nicht einfach nur abdrücken und auf dem Dispaly die Einstellungen kontrollieren, sondern Licht messen, überlegen, abdrücken und warten, bis der Film entwickelt und gescannt ist. Das hat in diesem Fall übrigens Carmencita Film Lab mit Bravur gemacht.

Excactly two weeks ago I flew out to the truly stunning tuscany where I stayed four nights in Florence.
This time I had a new tool in my camera bag: A medium format Pentax 645N and some Rolls of Kodak Portra 400 and Portra 160.

Over seven years passed by since I picked up a film camera the last time. But I really don’t know why I only used digital cameras the last couple of years…  After the very first frame I knew that I felt in love with shooting film again. And after receiving the scans I am even more convinced, that I will shoot more film in the future. And not only for personal projects, but also for professional stuff like weddings and portraits.

Not only its amazing colour tonality and the huge exposure latitude got me hooked. I totally love how you have to think and be in controll of everything and how much it slows you down. But the by far hardest part is the wait to get the scans back… Talking of developement and scanning, I trusted Carmencita Film Lab in Spain to do the magic and I have to say that they really know what they are doing!
